Lakes in August 2013

What a great Bank Holiday weekend for weather and company. Lots of swimming, a couple of good walks (Wetherlam and High Crag/High Stile) and a Canadian canoe trip to Peel Island with my new spaniel friends, Charlie & Poppy!

You can see me here with Merlin and Dove on the pier, and then with Milo from Germany - 4 flatcoats who were all staying at Lake Bank!

I'm 3 today

Having a mixed day on my birthday today.  I'm now 3!  It started well when I had another walk/play/roll/run/game in the snow (see above).  Then I went for coffee to my favourite friends' house.  I was very excited to see them, but unfortunately I threw up on their nice lounge carpet.  I had been eating the cattle's hay instead of breakfast.  I really hope I am allowed back again!

In the afternoon, I met another flattie called Isla.  I enjoyed our little game and we even posed for a quick photo!  Guess which is which.

Patience

Me and my friends (or is it My friends and I? - I haven't mastered the English language yet) waiting to be asked to come inside after a lovely walk yesterday.

Springer spaniels

I am entertaining my friends, the two springer spaniels, for the week. Here we are, sunning it in at the end of October. Great weather we are having.

Training

Went to my (6th) training class tonight again. I met some more new friends and I got very excited. I think I did quite well at the 'stay', but I need to work at 'down' and 'stand'. I haven't done 'stand' very much before. Daddy was told to use hand signals as well as words and eventually we will be moving on to hand signals only - help!

Westonbirt Arboretum

They say that Westonbirt Arboretum is good for trees and bluebells at this time of year. Well I reckon it is just as good for mud, and, most of all, for all the other canine friends that I can play with there. I met another flat-coated retriever who reminded me of my Mum, Poppy.

Fun

Saw Auntie Elizabeth again this afternoon. Had great fun spreading the stones and chewing a lot in her garden. I got my head stuck in the fish food bucket, but Daddy wasn't quick enough to take a picture. He said that looked very comical but I didn't see the funny side - I couldn't see anything!

A great morning

I loved this morning's walk. We went down the bridle path to Lower Hazel and then onto the old golf links for the second time. This is a great place to be. I met several new two-legged and four-legged friends there. I especially liked playing with Basil and Jim and I hope to see more of them. We also learned of more possible walks for the future which we did not know about.

Daddy is off to a wedding this weekend and so I am going to stay with Auntie Avril and Uncle Roland. That should be great fun. I'll try to be good!

Smiles

I've put a smile on some more faces today! I also met a black labrador, Poppy, who I hope to see more of in future. She's got the same name as my Mummy.
I am very interested in leaves blowing in the wind and holes in the ground! Here I am on the old golf links at Old Down.

My weekend

I visited Grannie and Daisy again this weekend and had a whale of a time. I saw loads of new friends and here are some more piccies.

Socialisation

I visited quite a few friends in the village and saw some of their neighbours this morning and had another trip into Thornbury this afternoon. When I got back I saw some callers and more friends. Is this what is called socialisation? I have had some lessons on 'lie down' and 'down' but there are rather a lot of temptations around. And it's very confusing - what if I am asked to 'sit down'? As you can see here, I found something new to chew - Daddy's running shoes.

He then decided I ought to have a rest which I am doing in my den but I have got my beady eye on him. He has taken the opportunity to tidy up, but what's the point?

Another friend

Went to coffee at a good friend of Daddy's this morning ('Auntie' Elizabeth) . She gave me a toy and an outside water bowl with "MAN'S BEST FRIEND" written on it. That was very good of her. I liked her garden - it has a big lawn and lots of frogs. Sorry there are no photos, perhaps next time. Anyway, here's the bowl in my garden.

Busy weekend

Had a very busy weekend in Newbury and met Daisy for the first time. She was very tolerant of me but puts me in my place when I get too pushy. I think I know the lie of the land now! It was a great place to be, Grannie. Sorry about my mess, but I did not like the chew. I found another funny duck and I liked all your friends who came round! I am told Daddy will be getting advice from one of them, Wendy, a Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy walker - respect!

Some more friends

Saw some of Daddy's friends on the way to Newbury. I am looking forward to being looked after by them very soon as they have a great garden and a funny duck.
