Lake District in November 2015

A rather different trip to the Lakes this time. Very mixed conditions which deteriorated into continuous wet and windy weather.

TCW leg 3

Good morning! I'm recovering from another leg of the Three Choirs Way yesterday!

The Lakes in July 2015

Another trip to the Lakes ticking off Wainwright Outlying Fells.  Even though they are supposed to be easier to do than the main Wainwrights as they tend to be lower and involve shorter walks, access can be difficult.  Also, this time there were cattle with their calves to contend with.  We were surrounded on Caermote Hill by some and Daddy was head-butted and trampled on!  I managed to get away unscathed, but our walking was somewhat curtailed for the rest of the visit.

I was taken to Fell Foot Park (owned by the National Trust) by Windermere and Esthwaite to bag two more proper lakes.

Coniston Water

Probably the last visit to the lake before we go home tomorrow to recover!

Posted to facebook - one feed or two?

I have a question about feeding flatcoats. I am a bit worried that I am feeding Dexter too much. Dexter is 7 and creeping over 30kg. He was 28Kg when he was neutered at the age of 2. The vet said then that he should be kept to that weight. I feed Dexter twice a day on James Wellbeloved kibble plus some cooked chicken (and some toast at lunchtime!). I am thinking of reducing this to one meal a day in the evening. Do you feed your flatcoat once or twice a day, plus treats of course? The consensus was definitely two feeds a day.

Relaxing!

Relaxing after one of my favourite walks this morning - round Thornbury Golf Course and then back via a friends' house for a good licking!

Old habits die hard.

Treats?

Is this what you want us to do for a treat? I have a lovely friend Archie to stay over Easter.

Biscuit time!

For heaven's sake, put that phone down and give us a biscuit. It's time for elevensies!

Lakes in March 2015

Here are my first walks in the Lakes this year. I'm enjoying the geriatric Wainwrights because they are out of the way and involve even more water!

Random conversation

Random conversation this afternoon with two walkers while out with Dexter. Q. "How old is he?" A. "He's 7 years old but he still thinks he's a puppy!" Q. "So do I! Is he a red setter?" (yawn!) A. "No, he's a flat-coated retriever, which were bred from setters, newfoundlands and labradors....."
